Nick has more than 30 years of experience as a human resources professional within a range of industries spanning Europe, Asia and Australia.
Nick played a crucial role in the successful bid team that won the metropolitan rail franchise for Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM). He is now a member of the executive team at Metro Trains Australia (MTA), where he is responsible for driving the group’s people strategy with a primary focus on generating a highly engaged workforce.
Nick is an advisor to MTR Corporation, which has rail operations in Hong Kong, UK, Sweden, Australia and mainland China. He is the Chair of the Australasian Railway Association Industrial Relations Committee and was the lead on rail industries submissions for the Federal Government’s Productivity Commission.
Nick is a graduate from Trent Polytechnic in the UK where he studied Administrative Management and is a member of both the UK Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).
He has implemented effective strategies that have grown the capability of the rail workforce through targeted Learning and Development, as well as sharpening the company’s proficiency in respect to industrial relations, recruitment, vocational educational and training.
Metro was recognised as the National Large Employer of the Year for vocational educational and training at the Australian Training Awards 2016. Metro was also named Victorian Large Employer of the Year and won the title for best Apprentice Development Program in 2016.
People and Performance at Metro Trains Australia is an integral component of the business, moving beyond its transactional HR role to become a strategic partner for the rail industry.

Vickie has extensive experience in commercial contracts and franchising, having managed the Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) franchise from 2009-2015. In this capacity, Vickie effectively managed relationships with Public Transport Victoria and the Public Transport Ombudsman. This included responsibility for reviewing and analysing proposed changes to the franchise agreement, infrastructure lease and projects agreement to determine the effect on Metro's operations, customer services and financials.
Vickie has strong project management skills having project managed the activities of major engineering projects up to $19 million. This includes the greenfield installation of new major zone substations, installation of modular substations and the installation of new transformers and switchgear. Vickie also has experience in the installation of co-generation substations at landfill sites. She also project managed the implementation of Melbourne’s Night Network – the first 24 hour, 7 day service across the metropolitan rail network.
Vickie has a proven track record in handling complex multi-discipline projects and contracts. Critical to success is her ability to identify the critical task and resources necessary to achieve the desired objectives, taking the required actions to ensure execution, delivery and follow-up across the contract period.
Vickie is currently acting as MTS Commercial Manager, liaising with TfNSW and the joint venture consortium members.

An experienced commercial and infrastructure executive who has worked for public and private sector companies. He has a keen interest in governance, strategy, business transformation and delivery across infrasrtcuture and technology. Nick has been involved in a range of procurement projects across PPPs, Alliances, D&C and major franchise arrangements.
Nick commenced his career as an Officer in the Royal Australian Navy, and in 1999 worked on his first 'mega project' (the Collins Class Submarine project). Since then, he has worked for engineering companies such as Halliburton, Sinclair Knioght Merz, Boeing Commercial Airlines and Downer EDI. From 2007-2012, Nick worked as a Senior Executive for the Dept of Treasury and Finance (Victoria), where he was responsible for leading the Victorian Government's major project assurance process, the gateway review process, developing infrastructure life cycle guidance and high value risk project reporting ($100m+) to government.
Nick is currently General Manager for Strategic Asset Management & Business Planning at MTM. He is a qualified Project Director and since 2002 he has been a National Competency Assessor for the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), whereby he has undertaken competency assessments of project managers, project directors and program managers.
Outside of work, Nick Pelham is undertaking a part time PhD in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering at the University of Melbourne. he is on track to finish this research in 2019.

Huw has had over 20 years experience in the rail industry.
His expertise includes being an executive leader specialising in transport strategy, multi-modal service planning and operational modelling and planning. Huw brings extensive international and Australian experience having previously worked for London Underground and Public Transport Victoria (PTV)
Huw's current role involves the development of integrated rail network strategy with particular focus on operational planning and modelling for long term network changes to ensure successful realisation of major Government initiatives and projects. Huw is the internal client for all project development activities and requirement settings. He is the MTM representative at the TFV Networking Planning governance forums.
His previous roles included being the Executive Director for Network Product Development at PTV General Manage for Service Planning at PTV, Manager of Rail Operations and Coordination at the Department of Transport, Senior Consultant and Sinclair Knight Merz and Manager of Service Development for London Underground.
